Get CSCS Certified

Paper/Pencil
  1. Meet the prerequisites.
  2. Check the exam schedule and choose an exam date and site (note the 10-week deadline).
  3. Read the CSCS Paper/Pencil Exam Candidate Handbook.
  4. Register for the exam online, by mail or by fax and mail your transcript and any other required documentation.
  5. Prepare for the exam (some people need 3-9 months to prepare, depending on their schooling and experience).
  6. Determine the need for study materials.
  7. Receive official confirmation and the CSCS Paper/Pencil Exam Candidate Handbook approximately three weeks after the registration deadline.
  8. Receive admission letter one week before the exam.
  9. Take the exam - the minimum for passing is a scaled score of 70 for each section of the exam.
  10. Receive your exam results 6-8 weeks after taking the exam.
  11. Advance your career by earning the CSCS Credential of Distinction.
  12. Recertify at the end of each three-year recertification period.
Computer-Based

  4. Read the CSCS Computer-Based Exam Candidate Handbook.
  5. Register for the exam online.
  6. Receive e-mail confirmation and scheduling instructions.
  7. Schedule your exam appointment with Applied Measurement Professionals.
  8. Submit your official transcripts and any other required documentation to the NSCA Certification Commission office.
  9. Take the exam - the minimum for passing is a scaled score of 70 for each section of the exam.
  10. Receive your exam results immediately at the Assessment Center (if the NSCA Certification Commission office has received all of your required documentation).
  11. Advance your career by earning the CSCS Credential of Distinction.
  12. Recertify at the end of each three-year recertification period.
